Fee Structure
Last Updated: 27 October 2026 (v1.18)
1. About this document
1.1 This Fee Structure states the fees, charges, reservation margin and cancellation treatment used by Ceylon Seva (Pvt) Ltd. It is incorporated into the Platform Terms of Service and the role-specific agreements. Where those documents refer to fees published on the Platform, this is the referent at https://ceylonseva.work/fees.
1.2 All amounts are in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). Times and billing weeks use Sri Lanka time. A billing week is Monday to Sunday. The initial commission-covered period starts on the engagement's start date and lasts up to 14 days, or to the engagement's end if earlier. These covered dates are fixed when the booking is secured; a later date change or extension does not restart or enlarge that period.
2. Charges and calculation bases
2.1 Worker's fee: the agreed hourly rate multiplied by the billable hours. The amount collected for the Worker is passed to that Worker without a platform deduction.
2.2 Service commission: 15% of the Worker's fee. Commission for the scheduled initial commission-covered period is charged once as the matching fee when the booking is secured. Weekly collections include commission only for days outside that initial period. The commission for that initial period is not charged twice.
2.3 Disbursement fee: 2.5% of the other amounts in the card charge. At matching-fee payment its base is the service commission; at weekly collection its base is the Worker's fee plus any service commission included in that collection. It is charged to the Client as cost recovery, not deducted from Worker earnings.
2.4 The scheduled billable span runs from the scheduled start to end time; breaks falling within that span are included in billable time and are not deducted. Settlement uses accepted hours under section 4, including scheduled hours accepted by default where neither confirmed nor disputed by the cut-off.
2.5 Money components are rounded to whole rupees using the Platform's half-up rounding, except where the cancellation or unpaid-pause rules below specify a different rounding rule. Rounding occurs at the component and applicable day or week level, so a total calculated from unrounded aggregate figures may differ by a small rounding amount.
2.6 The agreed hourly rate applies to all billable hours. The Platform does not apply an overtime multiplier, a premium rate for hours above any weekly threshold, or any uplift calculated by reference to a Worker's total hours across engagements. A Client and a Worker remain free to agree a different hourly rate for a particular engagement before it is booked.
3. Taxes
3.1 Ceylon Seva is not presently VAT-registered and no VAT is charged. Upon VAT registration, VAT at the prevailing rate will be added to Ceylon Seva's own fee lines only, the service commission and disbursement fee, not to the Worker's fee pass-through. It will be shown separately from that date.
4. When money moves
4.1 Clients pay by saved credit or debit card. Card registration or verification is not an engagement payment. A temporary verification authorisation may be placed and released without a settled charge. Bank transfer, cash and cheque are not payment methods for Client engagements through the Platform.
4.2 The Client confirms the displayed matching-fee charge when the roster is complete or a partial roster is accepted. It consists of the 15% service commission on the scheduled Worker's fees for the initial commission-covered period, plus the 2.5% disbursement fee on that commission. It secures the booking and is retained on Client cancellation. Dismissing the confirmation does not charge the card. A declined charge can be retried after the card is updated.
4.3 Ongoing automatic charging requires a separate authorisation for the booking. The first weekly card reservation is sought 72 hours before the first working day; later reservations are sought on Thursday at 10:00 for the week beginning the following Monday. Each covers the scheduled Worker's fees, any commission attributable to days outside the initial commission-covered period, and disbursement fees, with a 10% margin on those components together. The margin is headroom, not a fee. The first week may be a part-week. Reservations can overlap before the earlier week settles.
4.4 The weekly cut-off is Monday 02:00. Eligible days neither confirmed nor disputed at that time are accepted at scheduled hours. Confirmed days use confirmed hours. A day disputed before the cut-off is settled at the hours resolved or determined before the cut-off; where the dispute is still open at the cut-off it closes then and the day is settled at its scheduled hours. Every eligible day is therefore priced in its own week. A settled week is not reopened, corrected or adjusted afterwards. Late questions go to the support team.
The final week of an engagement is an exception — the week containing the last day on which the Worker is scheduled to work. A dispute on a day in that week is not closed automatically, whatever its age, and the week is settled, priced and billed only once every open dispute on it has been decided. Settlement follows that decision rather than the next weekly cut-off, and the final statement follows from it.
4.5 Collection is scheduled after the cut-off, with the regular settlement run at Monday 02:15. Ceylon Seva collects the amount due against the reservation and releases the unused part. Payment processing, retries or an unresolved provider outcome may delay completion. The issuing bank determines when released funds or credit become available.
4.6 Amounts above the reservation are separately payable by card through Finances. The affected Worker's additional earnings remain held until the corresponding payment clears. Ceylon Seva pays Workers from amounts collected, not from its own funds.
4.7 Worker payouts are prepared weekly and processed to the Worker's registered bank account after collection and the required payment authorisation. A statement being prepared or an amount becoming payable is not confirmation that the bank has credited it. Earnings shows pending and paid states.
4.8 Weekly statements cover Monday to Sunday for each engagement, identify the dates worked, and record the amount already collected. They do not require a second payment. A separately payable invoice, including an excess amount or unpaid-pause claim, is identified in Finances.
4.9 The roster and matching-fee payment must be complete at least 72 hours before the first working day. Automatic charging must be authorised in time to fund the first week. Missing these requirements cancels the booking, with the paid matching fee treated under section 5.
5. Cancellation
5.1 Before the booking is secured, if no matching fee was paid, there is no matching-fee charge to retain. Applications are withdrawn and no cancellation payment is due to a Worker.
5.2 After the matching fee is paid but before work begins, the matching-fee charge is retained and all existing weekly reservations are released in full. Half of the retained matching-fee charge, including its disbursement component, is allocated among confirmed Workers. The aggregate Worker share is rounded up to a whole rupee where necessary; individual allocations use whole-rupee rounding. No further amount is taken from the weekly reservation. The outcome is the same whether cancellation is more or less than 24 hours before the start.
5.3 After work has begun, completed weeks remain payable and the current billing week is charged on its scheduled hours. The engagement ends at that week's end; no later week is charged and later reservations are released. Workers' payment for the current week is subject to collection from the Client.
5.4 A Worker no-show must be recorded as zero hours and raised with the support team promptly. Undisputed, unconfirmed days otherwise settle at scheduled hours under section 4.4. No additional Client-cancellation charge arises merely from a Worker no-show. A matching-fee refund is not automatic; erroneous charges and any legally required remedies are handled under Terms clause 7.10.
6. Failed payment and unpaid pause
6.1 A failed weekly authorisation or terminal collection failure may pause the booking. The Client and affected Workers are notified that the engagement is paused. Workers do not accrue scheduled earnings for the suspended period and are free to accept other engagements during it. Eligible retries run approximately daily; there is no automatic promise of a fixed 14-day retry period.
6.2 Successful collection may permit the booking to resume for its remaining eligible dates. Closing an unpaid pause is an operator decision, not the automatic expiry of a retry counter.
6.3 If the operator closes an unpaid pause, the Client's account is blocked and a separately payable claim is issued at 50% of the failed week's collection base. For a failed authorisation, this base is the reserved scheduled Worker's fees, applicable commission and disbursement fees, excluding the 10% reservation margin. For a failed collection, it is the failed collection amount. The claim is rounded down to a whole rupee. Commission already paid remains retained. Workers receive nothing for an unworked refused week; this claim is not a payment of Worker earnings. Any discretionary payment to Workers in that situation is handled offline, case by case, and is not an automatic entitlement.
6.4 Amounts for work already performed and properly due remain payable. Ceylon Seva does not guarantee Worker amounts it has not collected, except that a chargeback never reduces or withholds a Worker's pay for work settled under Terms clause 7.4 (Terms clause 7.12).
7. What Workers pay
7.1 Workers pay no registration fee, subscription or platform deduction from their agreed service fee. Ceylon Seva remits amounts collected for their accepted hours, subject to the collection holds described in Terms clause 7.6 and Independent Contractor Agreement clause 4.5.
7.2 Workers remain responsible for their own taxes. Ceylon Seva does not withhold employee tax or make statutory employment contributions for them.
7.3 Worker rewards and recognition are ex gratia under the Terms and Independent Contractor Agreement. They are not guaranteed earnings or part of the Client's fee calculation.
8. Referral fees
8.1 Ceylon Seva pays a referral fee to an account holder who introduces a new Worker or Client to the Platform. The programme is determined by the role the referred person registers for, not by the referrer's own role. Terms clause 9 governs the programmes; this section states the amounts and thresholds.
8.2 The referral fees are:
| The referred person registers as | Referral fee | Qualifies when the referred person reaches |
|---|---|---|
| Worker | LKR 4,000 | 40 confirmed worked hours |
| Business Client | LKR 10,000 | 100 billed hours |
| Household Client | LKR 5,600 | 40 billed hours |
8.3 The hours are counted differently on each side, and the difference is deliberate. A referred Worker qualifies on hours actually worked and confirmed. A referred Client qualifies on hours billed to that Client. Hours are counted across the referred person's engagements on the Platform.
8.4 A referral must reach its threshold within 365 days of the date the referred person registers, or it lapses and no fee is payable. A referral fee is paid once per referred person, from Ceylon Seva's own funds. It is not charged to any Client and is not deducted from any Worker's fee. There is no limit on the number of referrals one account holder may make.
8.5 A referral fee is paid after the referral qualifies, through the ordinary Worker payment run for a referrer who is a Worker, and by the arrangement stated in the Platform for any other referrer.
8.6 Ceylon Seva may change a referral fee or threshold, or suspend or end a programme, under section 9.1 and Terms clause 9.7. A change does not reach a referral whose referred person registered before it took effect: that referral is paid the fee, and assessed on the threshold, published on the date the referred person registered.
9. Changes and contact
9.1 Ceylon Seva maintains a version history. Changes to fees and calculation bases are published and notified before taking effect; the Platform records the applicable rates for billing. A later page edit does not rewrite an existing acceptance record.
